Biography - Walter Strang
City Attorney Walter B. Strang, though young in years, is one of the prominent representatives of the bar in Roodhouse, besides being a popular and well known young man. He was born on his father’s farm, six miles southeast of Roodhouse, in 1874. He is the son of Mr. And Mrs. B. D. Strang, and most of his life has been spent in this city. It was here that he received his education, being a graduate of the Roodhouse Public Schools, Class of 1893. In 1893, after graduating here, he decided to take up the study of law, and entered the law department of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and graduated from that institution in 1895 and was admitted to the bar in Illinois June 12, 1895. September of that year he hung his sign and commence business, having fitted up an office in the Roodhouse Bank building, where he is still located.
Mr. Strang is quite a student and a deep thinker. He tends strictly to business and has been regarded with more success than the ordinary young attorney. He is careful, painstaking and obliging. In addition to his law practice he also does insurance and real estate business, having the agency of some of the largest and best companies operating in this State. In the real estate line he has already handled some important transfers and is looking forward to a good future business in realty. Mr. Strang has an enviable reputation as a collector and has been phenomenally successful in this direction.
In politics Mr. Strang is a Democrat. His first office to seek or hold is that of City Attorney for Roodhouse, to which position he was elected in the spring of 1897. This young man certainly has a bright and brilliant future before him, and no one can gainsay that he is not worthy of all the good fortune that may fall to his lot.
