Biography - D Truesdale
Roodhouse’s well known dentist, Dr. D. M. Truesdale, was born near Conneautville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, December 5, 1854. When 18 years of age he decided to study dentistry and entered the office of Dr. T. H. Whitesides at Jamestown, PA. Through all the years that have passed, Dr. Truesdale does not forget his old preceptor, whom he speaks of in the highest terms; regarding him as the best dentist who ever lived. While we do not know anything of the Doctor’s preceptor, we do know that he certainly knows his business and knows it thoroughly. There may be other dentists in this section as good, but none are any better.
Dr. Truesdale first practiced his profession in Jamestown, Pa. After leaving there he came to Roodhouse, landing here in 1879 and immediately began the practice of dentistry, which he has continuously followed since, and with the most remarkable success.
July 26, 1883, he was married to Miss Katie Zahm of this city.
To them have been born three bright and pretty little girls –
Ada, Nellie and Maude. With a pleasant home, a nice family and a
good practice, Dr. Truesdale most assuredly has cause to be
happy and contented.
Dr. Truesdale is rather inclined to independence in politics. He
served three terms in the City Council as Alderman from the
Third Ward.
He is a member of the Knights of Pythias and Odd Fellows Lodges of Roodhouse, and a prominent worker in each. He has held the Chancellor Commander’s chair in the K. of P. lodge four terms, and also the office of Noble Grand four times in the Odd Fellows lodge, besides having occupied all the other chairs of both lodges.
