1896 School Notes
A new pupil, Etna Jackson, was enrolled on New Year’s day.
A good sized bookkeeping class has been started since the holidays.
Some of the December examinations were held Thursday and Friday of this week.
From all reports the High school will be favored with a debate sometime this month.
Miss Van Arsdale was able to resume her work in the school Monday. She was unable to leave home the last few days before vacation on account of sickness.
Mr. Slone’s voice didn’t make much of an effort upon the auditory nerves of the pupils on New Year’s day. We hope he will soon regain complete control of his talking machine.
The new officers of the High School Rhetorical Society, who will serve during January are; Pres. Edgar LaRue; Vice Pres.; James Miller, N*c., Pearl Squire; Eds., Kent Gimmy and Cyrus Labarr; Critic, Grace Seeley
A special programme is being prepared in both rhetorical divisions for next Friday. All members of Miss VanArsdale’s division will speak selections from Whittier, while those of the other division will render selections from Longfellow.
