Harry D. Hoots Dies At Home Near Eldred
Harry D. Hoots, 71, died in his sleep about 1:30 a. m. Saturday, October 11, at his home south of Eldred. Although it was known that he had a heart ailment and in recent weeks he had been less active in his farming operations, his death was unexpected.
He was born March 25, 1884, on the farm where his death occurred. His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Hoots. He was a World War I veteran, a member of the Eldred American Legion Post, and of the Baptist church.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mildred Green to whom he was married in 1923, a daughter, Mrs. Darrell Carter of Monterey, Mexico, one grand-daughter, Susanne Carter, and a brother, Frank Hoots, of Eldred.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. John T. Finnan at the Simpson Funeral Home Monday afternoon. Mrs. William Bridgewater Jr. was soloist during the service, with Miss Nita Ford as accompanist.
Interment was in Carrollton cemetery. The pallbearers were Herbert Geisler, Clarence Ligon, Kenneth Brannan, Luther Smith, Otis Whitaker and Harry Borman.
