Mrs Elvira Fales, 74 years of age, died in St Louis. She was living with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr and Mrs R. M. Harnsberger. Mrs Fales was the mother of C. F. Fales of this city. Funeral from Methodist Church at Carrollton.

C. F. Fales, 64 year old undertaker in Jerseyville died Tuesday. He leaves widow and daughters Miss Frances Fales and Mrs L. M. Janney of Oberlin, Ohio. Learned the undertaking business under William Keith. Born in Carrollton, Il Oct 15, 1852. Presbyterian Church. Two sisters, Mrs E.A. Doolittle of Carrollton and Mrs R. N. Harnsberger of San Diego, Calif. Two grandchildren, Warren Fales and Frances Jenney.

Mrs Dorothy E. Farmer, wife of Ray J. Farmer, died at eleven-thirty o'clock Monday morning at the family home at 202 South Layafette Street, this city. Both Mr and Mrs Farmer have been confined to their home by impaired health for a number of years. Visitation hours were held Tuesday afternoon at the Gubser Funeral Home. Requiem Mass was celebrated at nine-thirty Wednesday morning at St Francis Xavier Church in Jerseyville with Rev. Father Francis D. Lee officiating. Burial was in St Francis Cemetery. Mrs Farmer was born in Jerseyville April 19, 1909, a daughter of the late Michael and Sarah J. Gorman Whalen and her age at the time of death was fifty-eight years, six months and four days. Surviving in addition to her husband are a sister, Mrs H.L. (Margaret) Pranger of Carrollton, two nieces and two nephews.

Dorothy E. Farmer, 58 years, 6 months, 4 days, died Monday morning at the family home in Jerseyville. Both Mr. and Mrs. Farmer had been confined to their home by impaired health for a number of years. Visitation was held at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. The funeral of Maude L. Farris, 89, of 901 Stryker, Jerseyville was held Sunday afternoon at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. William Elder officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. She died at her residence Jan 4. She was born April 1, 1889 in Davisville, Mo the daughter of Thomas and Lonnie Callahan. She is survived by four sons, Louis of St Genevieve, Mo, John of White Hall, Les of New London, Mo and Ovegene "Red" of Jerseyville; two daughters, Lavada Williams of White Hall, Wyonetta Cemeane of Canton; 32 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren. Her parents and a son preceded her in death.

Evangeline Faulkner, 79 years, 1 month, 16 days, died Friday at Reisch Memorial Home in Carrollton where she had been residing for some time. Services were held at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. James Connett, Pastor of First United Methodist Church, and Mrs. M. Edwards Breed, Pastor of First United Presby Church, officiated and burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Faulkner, a daughter of the late Louis C. and Charlotte (Kingston) Jacoby. She is survived by two borthers, Leslie K and Rodney C Jacoby of the Jacoby Brothers firm, and two sisters Mrs. Alice Louise Powell of Jerseyville and Mrs. Pauline Jennings of Phoenix, Arizona. Mrs. Faulkner was a member of the local Methodist church.

Mrs Frances Fear died at Rankin, Illinois, age 82 years. Funeral from home in Rankin. She was the widow of the late William Fear. Both were residents of Rockbridge for many years and also well know in Jerseyville.

Canzada Feldjes, 88, died at 4:08 a.m. Monday at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville. She was born in Jersey County, daughter of the late William Tillman and Anna Elizabeth Portwood Loy. On Jan 30, 1932, in Kane she married Rollie Feldjes. He died March 13, 1983. Surviving are a brother Frank Loy and a sister Nellie Frank both of Jerseyville. Preceding her in death were six brothers, John, Oliver, James, Louis, Tony and George Loy and two sisters Mary Davis and Cora McPheron. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today with services at 1 p.m. Thursday at Jacoby-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jerseyville. The Rev. Earl Clagg will officiate. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Anna C. Feldman, 88, died at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 1989 at Jersey Care Center, Jerseyville. Born in Bowling Green, Mo she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Stopfer Abeln. She married Lawrence Feldman Feb 6, 1924. He survives. Also surviving are seven sisters, Mary Kribach and Agnes Kirbach both of Carrollton, Catherine Abeln, Margaret Skinner and Cecelia Kallal all of Jerseyville. Elizabeth Weishaupt of Batchtown and Josephine Kallal of Alton. Visitation is 4-9 p.m. Wednesday with a Rosary recitation at 7 p.m. at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. A funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Thursday at St Francis Church in Jerseyville with the Rev. Henry Schmidt as celebrant. Burial is in St John's Cemetery, Carrollton. Memorials may be given to masses or the church redecorating fund.

The funeral of Nellie H. Felter, 80, who has lived with Charles and Delores Rothe of Rt 1 Jerseyville since 1974, was held Thursday afternoon at Gubser Funeral Home with David Hammer officiating. She died at 10:01 p.m. April 16 at St Joseph Hospital in Alton. She was born in Carrollton Oct 21, 1903. She is survived by a half-sister, Stella Young of Carrollton and nieces and nephews. Burial was in the Grimes-Neely Cemetery near Jerseyville. The Church of Christ of which she was a member has been named as a memorial.

NELLIE H FELTER, 80, DIED APR 16, 1984 AT ST JOSEPH HOSP IN ALTON. SHE HAD RESIDED WITH CHARLES & DELORES ROTHEY OF R1 JERSEYVILLE SINCE 1974. SERVICES WERE FROM Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. DAVID HAMMER OFFICIATED. SHE WAS BORN IN CARROLLTON OCT 21, 1903. SHE IS SURVIVED BY A HALF-SIS, STELLA YOUNG OF CARROLLTON, NIECES AND NEPHEWS. BURIAL WAS IN GRIMES-NEELY CEM NEAR JERSEYVILLE. THE CHURCH OF CHRIST OF WHICH SHE WAS A MEMBER HAS BEEN NAMED AS A MEMORIAL.

Peter Felter, 61, died at his home, one mile east of Kane. He was born in New York October 19, 1819. He came west to Greene county, with his parents, when 15 years old. They settled not far from Kane. He followed the trade of tailor. Moved to Jersey county engaging in woodboating, merchandising and farming. He married Harriet (Bramlette) Felter in 1844. In 1866 they moved back to Greene county. THey were parents of thirteen children, ten of whom survive, five boys and five girls. Rev. N. E. Harmon officiated at services from Methodist Church in Kane.

JUNIOR FENDER, 41, DIED OF A SELF INFLICTED GUNSHOT WOUND ON JULY 22, 1983. THE 41 YR OLD MAN OF JERSEYVILLE, BROKE INTO HIS ESTRANGED WIFE'S APARTMENT AT 536 HORN DRIVE. HE THEN SHOT HER IN THE BACK AS SHE FLED FROM HIM, THEN SHOT HER TWICE BEFORE KILLING HIMSELF. JUNIOR FENDER WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE AND KAREN FENDER, 33, DIED AT 3:46 PM IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM AT JERSEY COMM HOSP. FENDER HAD BEEN ARRESTED JUNE 6, FOR BATTERY OF HIS WIFE AT WHICH TIME SHE SIGNED A PETITION FOR AN ORDER OF PROTECTION. LATER THAT DAY HE WAS CHARGED WITH CRIMINAL TRESPASS TO LAND AND RESISTING A PEACE OFFICER IN CONNECTION WITH BEING AT SOMEONE'S HOME WHERE HIS PRESENCE WAS FORBIDDEN. ON JUNE 26 FENDER WAS CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED ASSAULT FOR ALLEGING CAUSING BODILY HARM TO HIS WIFE AND VIOLATION OF THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ACT. THE FENDERS WEE TO HAVE MET INFORMALLY AT THE JERSEY CO COURTHOUSE THE AFTERNOON OF THE SHOOTING TO WORK OUT DETAILS OF A DIVORCE, BUT ACCORDING TO HER ATTORNEY, FENDER'S ATTORNEY HAD BEEN UNABLE TO REACH HIM. HER ATTORNEY TOLD THE DEMOCRAT NEWS THAT HE HAD RESCHEDULED THE INFORMAL MEETING FOR THURS AM. ACCORDING TO THE ACCOUNT OF THE INCIDENT BY CHIEF OF POLICE TOM WOELFEL, ENDER WAS AT THE HOUSE OF A FRIEND ON McGILLS T AND HAD A GUN, AFTER FENDER LEFT THE FRIEND CALLED THE POLICE. PATROLMAN BILL BRIDGES WENT TO THE HOME AND WOELFEL AND LT. DALE OGDEN SEARCHED THE AREA FOR FENDER, WITH NEGATIVE RESULTS. WOELFEL SAID THE POLICE WERE THEN NOTIFIED BY RADIO THAT ANOTHER CALL HAD BEEN RECEIVED AND FENDER WAS AT THE HOME OF HIS ESTRANGED WIFE AND HAD JUST KICKED IN THE DOOR. THE POLICE ARRIVED JUST AFTER THE SHOOTING AND CALLED THE AMBULANCE. A FRIEND WHO WAS IN THE APARTMENT WITH MRS FENDER TOLD POLICE THAT AFTER SHE CALLED THE POLICE THAT SHE AND HER 6 YR OLD CHILD AND MRS FENDER RAN DOWN THE HALLWAY TO A BEDROOM JUST AS FENDER KICKED IN THE FRONT DOOR. SHE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF CHAIN LOCKING THE DOOR TO THE BEDROOM WHEN FENDER BROKE IN THAT DOOR. THE WOMAN SAID SHE GRABBED THE BARREL OF THE 22-CALIBER REVOLVER AND WRESTLED WITH HIM. WHEN SHE REALIZED SHE MIGHT BE SHOT SHE RAN OUT OF THE ROOM AND MRS FENDER FOLLOWED. INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT MRS FENDER WAS SHOT IN THE BACK AS SHE RAN DOWN THE HALL. SHE THREW UP HER HANDS AND TURNED AROUND AND FENDER SHOT HER AGAIN IN THE HEAD, SHE FELL AND HE SHOT HER ONCE AGAIN AT CLOSE RANGE AND THEN SHOT HIMSELF IN THE HEAD AND HIS BODY FELL OVER HERS. THE 2 CHILDREN OF THE COUPLE, TIMOTHY, 15, AND BRIAN, 9, WERE NOT AT HOME AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. Karen Judy Fender, 33, died at Jersey Community Hospital of an apparent gunshot wound. Born in Jerseyville, daughter of the late John and Lucy (Abner) Wells, she was a nurse's aide at Jersey Care Center. She married Junior Fender Dec 25, 1966, who died at the same time of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Surviving are two sons, Brian and Tim, at home; four sisters, Janet Tighe of Lowell, Mass., Shirley Johnson of Hardin, Sadie Butler of San Diego, Ca., and Joyce Luker of Jerseyville; and four brothers, Billy Gene Bridgeman of East Alton, William Birdgeman of Joliet, William Allen Wells of Carrollton and Charlie Wells of Jerseyville. Services were held at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home, with Rev. Daniel Mead officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Delhi Baptist Church, where she had been a member.

Alice W Fenity, wife of Dr E W Fenity, died early Monday morning at her home in Kane.

Dr. Peter Fenity, 62?, died recently. He was born in Ireland, March 15, 1827. He moved to Canada in 1840, went to Know College, taught in Jerseyville in 1853-54. He started medicine in 1857 and moved to Kane in 1866. In 1857, he married Helen E. (Cory) Fenity. Rev. Buckley officiating.

Lawrence Joseph Ferenbach, 79, DIED JULY 5, 1990, AT JERSEY COMM HOSP. HE WAS A SELF EMPLOYED GRAIN FARMER AND HAD BEEN A MISSISSIPPI TWSP HIGHWAY COMMISSIONER FOR 14 YRS. BORN IN JERSEY CO, HE WAS THE SON OF THE LATE KARL ALBERT & KATHARINA (ALGIER) FERENBACH. HE MARRIED BERL I. "TOOTS" (WHORTEN) FERENBACH AUG 9, 1941, IN ST CHARLES MO. Ethel Mae Ferguson, 65, of Sumner St. Jerseyville, died April 4, at Christian Hospital Northeast, St. Louis. The funeral mass was celebrated at Holy Ghost Church with Fr. William Hembrow as celebrant. She was born April 13, 1917 in Medora, a daughter of James Leonard and Stella L. (Eyer) Wayman and married Murray Ferguson Feb 19, 1933, in Fideelity; he died Octob er 23, 1963. Surviving are one sone, Donald Ferguson of Jerseyville; one daughter, Stella Brown of Jacksonville; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Wayman of Ft. Leslie M. Ferguson, of Kane, died in St. Luke Hospital, St. Louis. He had suffered fatal burns last Wednesday. Funeral services were held at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Gertie B. Ferguson, one sister, Mrs. Clifton Devening of Kane and one brother, L. S. Ferguson of Alton. He was a son of the late William S. Ferguson.

Lida Minnie Ferguson, 63 years, 11 months, 11 days, of N. Liberty St., Jerseyville, died at Jersey Community Hospital. She had been a patient for two days. Mr. Ferguson is survived by his wife, Gertie; two sons, Leslie Ferguson of Kane and Lawrence L. Ferguson of Alton; one daughter, Mrs. Clifton (Anna Belle) Devening of Kane; two brothers, Gus Ferguson and Robert Ferguson of Wood River; 8 grandsons; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Dewey C. Fessler, 82, of Jerseyville, died June 14, at Jersey Community Hospital. Visitation and services were held from Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev. R. E. George officiated and burial was in Valhallah Memorial Park. Masonic services were conducted on Monday. He was born December, 1897, in Jersey county, a son of George and Elizabeth (Laubscher) Fessler and had worked for the water and sewer department. He is survived by his wife, Opal (Bates) Fessler, who he married July 6, 1935, in Carrollton; one son, Emil of Jerseyville; one daughter, Marcella Allen of Dow; one brother, James Fessler; one sister, Elizabeth Nolan of Dow; four grandchildren. He was prceded in death by his parents, five brothers, two sisters, and one son, Dale who died on June 11. Memorials may be given to the Methodist Church and the Heart Fund.

William Fessler, 73, of Jerseyville, died Monday at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton where he had been a patient for a few weeks. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Mr. Messler, a retired farmer, was born in Jersey county, June 7, 1893, a son of the late George and Elizabeth (Laubscher) Fessler. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his wife, Emma (Hooper) Fessler; five brothers, George and Dewey Fessler of Jerseyville, Harry and Roy Fessler of Alton and James H Fessler of Dow; and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Greeling of Jerseyville and Mrs. Elizabeth Nolan of Dow. Eva Myrtle Fink, 53 years, 3 months, 7 days, wife of J. Wayne Fink, Jerseyville grocer, died Nov 13, at her home on Mulberry St. following an extended illness. Mrs. Fink was the daughter of the late Algie Willis and Doly (Turner) Willis and was born in Madison county, Kentucky, August 6, 1899. Prior to her illness Mrs. Fink had assisted her husband in the operation of their grocery store. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, one daughter, Miss Eleanor Fink of Jerseyville; her mother, Mrs. Dollie Willis of Jerseyville; five sisteres, Mrs Amiel Krueger of Wood River, Miss Amy Willis of Chicago, Mrs. Harvey Croxford of Dow, Mrs. Lee Shanks, Jr., Jerseyville and Mrs. Raymond Roady of Germany; two brothers, R. C. Willis of Carrollton and Rayburn Willis of Jerseyville. Visitation and services were held Nov ___ at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev. Laverne Poole, Pastor of the Baptist Church, officiated and interment was in Oak Grove cemetery.

Cornelius B. Fisher, 76, DIED RECENTLY. HE WAS BORN IN SOMMERSET CO, NJ ON JUNE 4, 1809, AND SETTLED IN JERSEY CO IN JUNE OF 1838. HE IS BELIEVED TO BE THE LAST OF THAT NUMBER OF PIONEERS WHO SETTLED UPON THE OLD STATE ROAD BETWEEN KANE AND DELHI. HE IS FROM THE "KNICKERBOCKER" STOCK THAT SETTLED NY AND NJ--HIS GRANDFATHER BEING A MEMBER OF THE "STAMP ACT" CONGRESS FROM NJ. HIS GRANDFATHER WAS A SOLDIER IN THE REVOLUTION, PARTICIPATING IN MOST OF THE BATTLES IN NJ. CORNELIUS MARRIED HANNAH (MITCHESS) FISHER OF MORRISTOWN, NJ IN 1828 AND 5 CHILDREN WERE BORN TO THEM BEFORE THEY MOVED TO IL. ONE, MRS VAN SYCKEL, DIED IN 1875. MRS FISHER WAS ONE OF THE PIONEER WOMEN OF JERSEY CO AND DIED IN JAN 1871. IN 1872, MR FISHER, MARRIED SUSAN (CHAMBERLAIN) FISHER OF NJ. HE WAS AN EXTENSIVE LAND HOLDER IN JERSEY CO. Sister Roberta Fitzgerald, OSU, 92, OF LATON DIED FEB 16, 1988 AT THE URSULINE CONVENT IN ALTON AFTER A BRIEF ILLNESS. BORN IN GREENFIELD, SHE WAS THE DAU OF THE LATE THOMAS & MARY JANE (GRACE) FITZGERALD. SHE ENTERED THE URSULINE CONVENT IN 1915, AND PROFESSED HER FIRST VOWS IN 1918. HER FINAL VOWS WERE IN 1921. SHE CELEBRATED HER SILVER JUBILEE IN 1943, HER GOLD IN 1978 AND HER DIAMOND IN 1983. SISTER ROBERTA TAUGHT SCHOOL FROM 1918-76 IN COLLINSVILLE, JERSEYVILLE, SPRINGFIELD, MOUNT OLIVE, ALTON, TEXARKANA, TX, WOOD RIVER, DESOTO, MO; ST AMBROSE IN GODFREY; AND MARQUETTE HIGH SCHOOL, ST PATRICK'S AND SS. PETER & PAUL, ALL OF ALTON. IN 1967, SHE RETIRED FROM TEACHING, BUT CONTINUED ASSISTING TEACHER WITH RECORD WORK AT MARQUETTE HIGH, AND ALSO TAUGHT RELIGION (CCD) AT THE CONVENT UNTIL 1976. Ebert D. Fitzjarrell, 29, a farmer from near Greenfield, died recently. He leaves his father, widow and two children. Funeral was held with Rev. W. R. Johnson of Greenfield officiating.

Florence Marie Flamm, 58, WIFE OF CARL FLAMM OF RR 2, JERSEYVILLE, SUFFERED A FATAL HEART ATTACK SEPT 30 AS SHE WAS PREPARING THE EVENING MEAL AT HER HOME. HER DEATH CAME AS A GREAT SHOCK TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS. SHE HAD WORKED THAT DAY AT THE MUSIC SHOP WHERE SHE WAS EMPLOYED AS A CLERK. A LIFELONG JERSEY CO RESIDENT SHE WAS BORN AUG 4, 1907, IN JERSEYVILLE, THE DAU OF LESTER J CORY & THE LATE MAE (POST) CORY. SHE WAS A MEMBER OF THE MOOSE AUX AND WAS A PAST STATE PRES OF THE DEMOLAY MOTHERS. HER ONLY BRO, JOHN CORY OF JERSEYVILLE, DIED SUDDENLY LESS THAN 3 MOS AGO, AND HER MOTHER ALSO PRECEDED HER IN DEATH. HE OWNED AND OPERATED A BARBER SHOP IN GRAFTON FOR FA NUMBER OF YRS AND HAD BARBERED IN N ALTON. Claud E. Flatt Sr, 87, a former White Hall resident, died Feb 6, at Veteran's Hospital in Quincy. He had been a resident there for several years. Services wee held at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Burial was in Richwoods Cemetery west of Carrollton. The WWI veteran was born in Greene county, a son of John and Edna (Camerer) Flatt. Surviving are two sones, Claude Jr of Jacksonville and Harry of Cincinnati, Ohio; and one sister, Mildred Prill of Jerseyville; nieces and nephews. His parents, an infant son, two sisteres and one brother, preceded him in death.

Earl Eugene Flatt, 63, died January 16, 1991, at Passavant area hospital, Jacksonville. He was a US Army Korean War veteran and received two bronze stars and a personalized letter from President Harry Truman. He retired in 1985 as a machinist from Shell Oil company after 29 years of service and was a member of the Jerseyville Sport Flyers Aviation Club. Born in Carrollton, he was the son of the late Frank and Rosa (Chapman) Flatt. He married Bette Kathleen (Davis) Flatt on Jan 27, 1952, in Carrollton, and she died on Oct 4, 1989. Surviving are one son, Floyd Eugene "Gene" Flatt of Jerseyville; 2 daughters, Barbara Hartung of St. Louis and Kathleen Zipprich of Jacksonville; 7 grandchildren; 2 brotehrs, Donald Flatt of S Roxana and Larry Flatt of Carrollton; and one sister, Audra Price fo Carrollton. Visitation was held at Jacoby-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Services were held at Hope Lutheran Curch, Jerseyville, with Rev Mark Etter officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. Memorials may be given to the church where he was a member.

Ella Flatt, 84, wife of George Flatt, died Saturday in Boyd Memorial Hospital. She and her hsuband, former residents of Eldred, had been making their home with their son, Roy, in Jerseyville. In addition to her husband and son, Roy, she is survived by two other sons, Orson of Houston, MN, and Frank of Eldred, and by two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Brant, of Carrollton and Miss Lucy Flatt of Chicago, and a sister, Mrs. Thomas Liles of Rockford. Funeral services were held by Rev. Robert Wagener at Simpson Funeral Home. Interment was in Carrollton City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Zoda Richter, Clarence Ligon, William Flatt, Harold Flatt, Robert Portwood and Jacob Clafflin.

Eva Irene Flatt, 74, of Kampsville died July 6, at Passavant Hospital, Jacksonville. Born in Greene county, Feb 27, 1907, she was a daughter of Wade and Nellie (Badman) Reynolds. Her survivors are her husband, Raymond Jennings Flatt; one son, James T Flatt, of Conway, MI; four daughters, Alma Schaaf and Mildred Galore of Fieldon, Florence Halemeyer of Hardin and Lilly Honey of Eldred; one granddaughter, Helen Learnard of Springfield who was reared in teh home; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; stepmother, Ione Reynolds of Jerseyville; five half-brothers, five half-sisters, a stepbrother, and two stepsisters.

Raymond J. Flatt, 81, of Kampsville died at his residence of July 12, six days after the death of his wife, Irene (Reynolds) Flatt who died July 6 at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville. Services were conducted Tuesday at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton with Rev. Jon Lobos officiating. Burial was in Richwoods cemetery west of Carrollton. The retired farmer was born in Greene county Sept 6, 1899, a son of Ernest and Bessie (Hermans) Flatt. His survivors are four daughters, Alma Schaaf and Mildred Galore of Fieldon, Florence Halemeyer of Hardin and Lilly Honey of Eldred; one granddaughter, reared in his home, Helen Leanard of Springfield; one son James of Conway, MI; 21 grndchidren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Day of Eldred; one brother, Paul Flatt of Carrollton. One sister and one grandson also preceded him in death. Memorials may be given to The Heart Fund or a charity of one's choice.

Roy Flatt, 80, of Hazel St., Jerseyville, formerly of Eldred, died unexpectedly at his home on May 4. Services were conducted at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton by Rev. Orlan Lane of Jerseyville. Burial was in Memorial Gardens, Eldred. The retired farmer was born Nov. 28, 1900 in Eldred, a son of George and Ella (Logan) Flatt and married Cora A (Booth) Flatt in 1926. She survives. He was preceded in death by one daughter who died in infancy, two brothers, and two sisters. Memorials may be given to Gospel Assembly Church of Jerseyville, where he was a member.

Wilton L. Flatt, died Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clara Russell, in this city. Services wee held Saturday at Mehl Funeral Home. Dr. John W. Crouch, Pastor of the Baptist church, officiated. Everett Mehl was soloist and his selections were; "In a Garden of Prayer" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." Pallbearers were guy Fox, George Clark, Dean Bushnell, and Ben Black of Eldred, and Ed Seger and Arch Howard of Carrollton. Flower bearers were Mrs. Ruby King, mrs. Matt Sanford, Mrs Dennis Lemon and Mrs. John Debolt. Burial was in Carrollton cememtery. Mr. Flatt was born ni Hamilton county, November 22, 1858, the son of Aaron and Nancy Flatt. He married Adeline (Bushnell) Flatt in 1881. They lived in Eldred and vicinity until coming to Carrollton about six years ago to make their home with their daughter, Mrs. Ussell. Mr Flatt is survived by his wife and one daughter, also one grandson, Capt. Leon Flatt and one great-granddaughter, the daughter of Captain and Mrs. Flatt, born on November 22, the deceased Mr. Flatt's birth date.

Edgar Thomas Fleming, 46, oil distributor, died Dec 19, at St. John Hospital, St. Louis. He was the sone of Thomas and Mary (Conners) Fleming and was born in Jersey county, November 19, 1900. He leaves his wife, Thelma; four sisters, Nellie Longer, Eldred, Mary Earley, St. Louis, and Misses Elizabeth and Loretta Fleming of Jerseyville. Funeral from St. Francis church and burial in St. Francis cemetery.

Roy E. Flowers, 74, died unexpectantly at his home on Sunday, Dec 9, 1990. He retired in 1978 as a laborer from Wickenhauser Construction Company of Alton, after 17 years of service. He was a WWII veteran. Born in Carrollton, he was the son of the late Erva Bunt and Althia Odessa (Taylor) Flowers. He married Vera (Hayes) Flowers August 10, 1936, in St. Louis. She died August 2, 1969. Survivig are 5 daughters, Vera Dean Wood of Littleton, CO, Sharon Bowden of Sparta, Betty Johnson of Grafton, Judy Denoter of Alton and Nadine Coen of Pine Grove, WV; 4 sons, Kike, Richard, and Dennis Flowers all of Grafton and Darrell Flowers of Las Vegas, NV; 24 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. One son, Roy E. Flowers Jr and one brother, Darrell Flowers preceded him in death. Visitation and services were held from Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 and VFW Post 4528 will conduct military graveside rites at Valhalla Memorial Park, Godfrey. Memorials may be given to Grafton Senior Citizens Center.
