Isler "Benny" Benedict Foiles, 65, died at
Christian Hospital NE in St. Louis. She was a nurse's aide at
Jersey Community Hospital. Born in Kentucky, daughter of the
Late Robert Lee and Florence (Bates) Page, she married Wilson
Benedict who died June 16, 1969. She later married Cecil Foiles
who died October 4, 1983. Surviving are two sons, Robin and
James, both of Jerseyville; two daughters, Betty Miller of
Brighton and Crystal Varble of Eldred; 22 grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter Moore of Bethalto; and
three sisters, Anna Geisler of Jerseyville, Della Scoggins of
Carrollton and Bessie Burch of Elgin. Visitation was from jacoby
Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyvill. Services were held at First
Baptist Church, Jerseyville with Rev. V. Clay Noah officiating.
Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be given to
Missouri Baptist Chirldren's Home and First Baptist Church where
she was a member.
Raymond L. Foiles of Carrollton, died Sunday
at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. Final rites were conducted at
the Baptist church in Carrollton by Pastor Rev. J. R. Heikes.
Burial was in Summit Grove Cemetey at Kampsville. Fr. Foiles was
a son of Cecil Foiles of Jerseyville and the late Carrie Foiles.
Also surviving are his wife, Joanna (Fauver) Foiles, four
daughters, Marcia, Bonnie, Laverna and Lora, all at home; and
three brothers, Robert of Hillview, and Roger and Ronnie of
Carrollton.

Violet Burdette Foiles, 58 years, 11 months,
2 days, of Jerseyville, wife of Cecil Foiles, died July 13, at
Jersey Community Hospital where she had been a patient 39 days.
Rev. Roland Hastie officiated at the Assembly of God Church.
Burial was in Summit Grove cememtery. Visitation hours were held
at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. The Leukemia
Guild was designated as a memorial. Mrs. Foiles was employed as
a nurse's aide at Jersey Community Hospital. She was a daughter
of the late Louis and Liza (Bunch) Peuterbaugh and was born Aug
11, 1911, in Calhoun county. Surviving in addition to her
husband are three sons, Eugene Peuterbaugh of Lee Summit, Mo.,
William Powell of Jerseyville and Gary Powell of St. Louis; one
duaghter, Mrs. Sue Hill of Jerseyville; 24 grandchildren; two
brothers, Russell and Byron Peuterbaugh of Pleasant Hill; three
sisters, Mrs. Wilma Wyatt of Pekin, Mrs Lee Foiles of Creve
Couer and Mrs. Virgil Davis of Detroit, IL; and four stepsons,
Raymond, Roger and Roland Foiles of Carrollton and Robert Foiles
of Bellview. The death of her firsth husband, Ernest Powell,
occurred in 1964.

Donald Leon Forrester, 62, of Jerseyville
was born in Greene county on April 18, 1912. He was the son of
Lewis and Alma (Lawson) Forrester. He married Mildred
(Pinkerton) Forrester in 1939 at Bowling Green, Mo. Services
were held at First Baptist Church, Jerseyville with Rev. Everett
Chambers officiating. Burial was at White Hall. Jacoby Brothers
Funeral Home in Jerseyville was in charge of arrangements.
Surviving are his wife, two sones, Leon, of Canton and Kendric,
of Rosewood Heights; one daughter, Mrs. Alfonso (Dayina) Lugo of
Jerseyville, seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one
brother, Lyle Forrester of Roodhouse, and three sisters, Mrs.
Chester (Dora) Owings of Alton; Mrs George (Bessie) Piper, of
White Hall and Mrs. Wayman (Audia) Terrell of Poplar Bluffs, Mo.
Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church.
Benjamin Foster, 81, died Dec 29, 1908. He
was born March 10, 1827, at Crowhurst, near Battle, County of
Sussex, England when 12 years old he became footman in
gentleman's house at St. Leanord's Hastins; from there to London
as livery servant. In 1853 he came to the US and settled near
Jerseyville. In 1854 he returned to London and on March 4, 1855,
he married Ann (Welford) Foster at the Parish church of St.
George Parish at Bloom's Bay in County Middlesex, by the Curat
Rev. Thomas Clark. They returned to Jersey county and ehe was
employed by Isaac Snedeker, where they lived for two years. They
then moved to Rhoady settlement seven miles east of Jerseyville
and settled on a farm. He was baptized by Elder Trabue into
Paradise Baptist Church. In 1873 they moved onto a farm near
Fidelity. In 1890 he retired and they moved from the farm and to
Jerseyville. Mrs. Foster died Sept 25, 1897. On Nov 8, 1898, he
married Sarah Pinkerton of Carrollton, Greene Co. He leaves his
wife, Sarah, two sisters-in-law; and one brother-in-law. He had
been ordained a deacon by Paradise Church. Services from Baptist
Church in Jerseyville, Stephen Catt and Simeon Hussey serving
with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Blanche D. Foster, 77, died July 3, 1988, at
her residence. She was born in Greene county, daughter of the
late Oliver and Pearl (Johnson) Dierking. She married Truman
Foster June 27, 1931, in Alton and he survives. Also surviving
are one daughter, Joan Dixon, Atlanta, Georgia; two
grandchildren and one sister, Pauline Fry of Jerseyville. One
brother and two sisters preceded her in death. Visitation and
services were held from Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev.
John Wilson conducted services and burial was in Oak Grove
cemetery. memorials may be given to American Heart Association.
BLYTHE WILLIAM "BILL" FOSTER, 62,
died July 18, 1991, at his home. He retired in 1989 after 40
years of service as a carpenter from Russell Construction in
Jerseyville. A U.S. Navy World War II veteran, he was past
Commander of the Crawford Legion Post 1038 of Kane from 1972-76,
1979-80, and 1987. Born in Jerseyville on October 27, 1928, he
was the son of the late Joseph and Freda (Lifets) Foster. He
married Joan (Crawford) Foster on Oct 1, 1949, in Jerseyville,
and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Patricia Ann
Price, Kane; three grandsons; one brother, Roy Foster of
Jerseyville; and five sisters, Agnes Woolsey, Dorothy and
Florence Russell, Irene Shaw and Anne Haneline, all of
Jerseyville. Visitation was from Jacoby-Schroeder Funeral Home,
Jerseyville, where services were held by Rev. David Bearchamp.
Military graveside rites were conducted at Kane cemetery by
American Legion Post 492 and VFW Post, both of Jerseyville.

Maggie Foster, 97, who died April 1, at
Greenwood Manor Nursing Home was born April 10, 1883, in
Jalappa, Greene county, a daughter of the late Charles and Myra
(Hamilton) Legrand. Her husband, William Foster, whom she
married November 14, 1904 in Jerseyville, died March 3, 1968.
Services were conducted at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in
Jerseyville. rev. William Elder of Bible Baptist Church
officiated and burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. Only survivors
are nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her
husband, one son, and one daughter. Memorials may be given to
Bible Baptist Church.

Sara Foster, 59, nee Sarah Pinkerton, was
born November 14, 1854, in Greene county. She came to
Jerseyville in 1884 and made her home with a sister, Mrs. A.
Atchison. On November 18, 1898, she married Benjamin Foster, who
died Dec 28, 1908. She died at the Postlewait Hotel in
Carrollton on August 6. Rev. Catt had the service held at
Postlewait Hotel on October 8. Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery,
Jerseyville. She leaves one brother, Thomas, East St. Louis, one
sister, Mrs. Atchison, Alton.
Earl Raymond Fraley, 74, a rural Jerseyville
resident and former member of the Jersey County Board of
Supervisors for 12 years, died suddenly at his home on Jan 8.
Visitation was held at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in
Jerseyville. Services were held at Fieldon United Church of
Christ. Rev. Leonard Todd of Moro officiated and burial was in
Fieldon cemetery. Through Mr. Fraley had been ill for several
years, his death was unexpected. Mr. and Mrs. Fraley had been in
Jerseyville Wednesday afternoon and upon returning to their home
he said he would rest before the evening meal. His breathing
attracted Mrs. Fraley's attention and she summoned help. He was
pronounced dead on arrival at Jersey Community Hospital. A son
of the late Theodore C. and Rachel (McDaniel) Fraley, the former
official of Otter Creek Township, was born in Montgomery county.
He was engaged in farming for many years. Surviving are his
wife, Mrs. Effie (McDow) Fraley; one daughter, Mrs. Bertha
Hearty of Jerseyville; four sons, Stewart Fraley of Fieldon,
Stanley and Wilbert Fraley of Jerseyville and Leland Fraley of
Carrollton; 19 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; four
brothers, Warren Feraley of East Alton, Frank Fraley of
Litchfield, Lewis Fraley of Chicago, and Estel Fraley of
Carrollton. One brothers, Mark preceded him in death. Mr. Fraley
was a member of Fieldon United Church of Christ; Fieldon Lodge
592, AF&AM; and the Consistory Masonic services were held at the
funeral home.
Emma C. Fraley, 91, of Carrollton, died Dec
19, at her home in Carrollton. She was born in Illinois,
daughter of the late Friedrick and Johanna (Feierabend) Wieneke.
On June 5, 1923, in Jerseyville, she married Mark H. Fraley, and
he preceded her in death. Surviving are one daughter, Opal B.
Fraley of Carrollton and one sister, Matilda Fraley of
Jerseyville. Visitation was at Airsman-Hires Funeral HOme in
Carrollton. Graveside rites were conducted in Oak Grove
Cemetery.
Estel Fraley, 74, a retired farmer of
Carrollton, died at his home February 13, after an apparent
heart attack. Visitation was held at Hires Funeral Home,
Carrollton, and burial was in Carrollton cememtery. He was born
in Jersey county, a son of the late Theodore and Rachell
(McDaniel) Fraley. He married Mildred (Devening) Fraley in 1923.
She died in 1977. On Jan 5, he married the former Sara Goodwin
who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Lila VanAusdoll
and Mamie Shelton, both of Fieldon; three sons, Orville of
Anabel, Mo., and Ralph and Raymond both of Carrollton; 22
grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Matilda Josephine Fraley, 90, of East Alton,
died January 16, 1988, at Greenwood Manor in Jerseyville. Born
in Jersey county, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick and
Johanna (Quitt) Wieneke. She married Warren Fraley in 1921 in
Jerseyville. He died February 8, 1975. Surviving are one son,
Oliver Fraley, Godfrey; one daughter, Keota Doerr, Godfrey; 2
grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and one sister, Emma Fraley,
Carrollton. Visitation and servies were conducted at Marks
Mortuary in Woodriver. Rev. Paul Miller officiated burial was in
Rose Lawn Memory Garends in Behalto.
Mildred M. Fraley, 74, of R1 Carrollton,
died Apr 3 at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville. Services were
conducted by Rev. Kent Tremble at Hires Funeral Home, Carrollton
and burial was in Carrollton City cemetery. A native of Alton,
she married Extel Fraley in 1923. Surviving are her husband; two
sisteres, Mrs. Willie (Lila) VanAusdoll and Mrs. Don (Mammie)
Shelton, both of Fieldon; three sons, Orville of Anabel, Mo.,
Ralph and Raymond, both of Carrollton; 22 grandchildren and 13
great-grandchildren.
Warren Fraley, 75, of East Alton, died Feb
8, at Jersey Community Hospital. Final rites were held at East
Alton Pentecostal Church with Rev. E. Ladkey officiating. Burial
was in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens. Mr. Fraley was employed as a
machinist with Standard Oil company for 39 years until retiring
in 1962. Surviving are his wife, matilda (Wieneke) Fraley whom
he married March 15, 1922, in Jerseyville; one daughter, Mrs.
Fred (Keota) Falcone, Alton; one son, Oliver W. Fraley of
Godfrey; two brothers, Estel of Carrollton and Lewis of Chicago;
two grandchildren. Memorials may be given to American Cancer
Society.

Beulah Pearl Frazer, 49 years, 4 months, 6
days, wife of Oscar W. Frazer, RR Fieldon, died Dec 9, at St.
Joseph Hospital, Alton, where she had been moved a few hours
earlier. Funeral services were held at Jacoby Brothers Funeral
Home in Jerseyville. Rev. Arthur Kauhl, pastor of the Lutheran
Church, officiated and burial was in Oak Grove cememtery. She
was a daughter of the late Rev. Morgan and Mary Jane (Sowert)
Henson, and was born at Shirdon, Ky, Aug 3, 1905. Surviving are
her husband; one son, William Earl Newman, Fieldon; three
daughters, Mary Lois (NewsmanJ) Freand, Fieldon, Mrs. Lena Ruth
McCloud of Joliet and Mrs. Evelyn Woolsey, Kane; 12
grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Joiner, Rosiclare, Ill.,
Mrs. Millie Harnice, Marion, Ky., Mrs Rosie Privett,
Caruthersville, Mo., and Mrs. Murole Shaw of Wyoming, and one
brother, Rev. John Henson, Golconda, Ill.
Rev. Harry Frazer, 83, Jerseyville, died
November 9 at Boyd Memorial Hospital, Carrollton. Services were
conducted at Gospel Assembly Church, Jerseyville, with Rev.s
Clyde Shaw and Louis Kappler officiating. Burial was in Oak
Grove. Born Oct 23, 1901 (discrepancy in birth as both he and
herbert were born 23-10-1901, or else were twins), to the late
fred and Maggie (Dabbs) Frazer. He was in the ministry for 52
years in Jersey and Greene counties and 26 years at Gospel
Assembly. Surviving is one brother, Herert Frazer, Jerseyville.
His parents, two brothers, and one sister preceded him in death.
Memorials may be given to Gospel Assembly. Jacoby Brothers
Funeral Home in Jerseyville was in charge of arrangements.
Margaret Ellen Frazer, 79, died June 30, at
the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Cope where she made her
home. She was the daughter of the late F. W. and Catherine
(Worthey) Dabbs, and was born in Jersey county, January 15,
1871. Her husband preceded her in death. Surviving is one
daughter, Mrs. George Cope, Jerseyville; four sons, Edward
Frazer of Grafton, George Frazer of Jerseyville, Harry Frazer of
Carrollton and Herbert Frazer of Fieldon; one brother, Oscar
Dabbs of Fieldon and one sister, Mrs. Don Beach of Otterville.
Visistation was at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Services
were held from Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church in
Jerseyville on July 2. Rev. J. W. Stoeker officiated and
interment was in Otterville cemetery.
Thomas J. Frazier, 68, of RR Jerseyville
died Nov 14, at Alton Memorial Hospital after an extended
illness. Services were held at Delhi Baptist Church with Rev.
James Maxwell officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Frazier retired from Shell Oil Company Jan 1, 1975, after 32
years service. Born in Greene county January 25, 1912, he was a
son of James Curtis and Belle (Knox) Frazier and was a member of
Delhi Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Ruth (Black)
Frazier whom he married Dec 18, 1934, in Edwardsville; one
daughter, Sandra R. Kuehnel of Jerseyville; three sons, Thomas M
and Dennis J, Jerseyville and James M of Dow; 13 grandchildren
and one great-grandchild. He was peceded in deathh by three
brothers and three sisters. Memorials may be given to Delhi
Baptist Church.
THOMAS M FRAZIER, 55, D JAN 12, 1991, AT JERSEY COMM HOSP AFTER A
LENGTHY ILLNESS. HE WAS A CROP HAIL ADJUSTER FOR COUNTRY COMPANIES INS CO,
JERSEYVILLE AND WAS A US AIRFORCE VETERAN. FRAZIER HAD TAUGHT SCHOOL SINCE
1961 AT MANY JERSEY CO SCHOOLS, INCLUDING ILLINI JR HI, JERSEYVILLE, WHERE
HE HAD SERVED AS PRINCIPAL SINCE 1984. HE WAS PREVIOUSLY A TEACHER, COACH,
DEAN OF STUDENTS AND ASSISTANT PRIN AT ILLINI. BORN IN WHITE HALL, HE WAS
THE SON OF RUTH (BLACK) FRAZIER OF JERSEYVILLE AND THE LATE THOMAS J
FRAZIER. MAY19, 1956, IN SCOTT, AR, HE MARRIED FRANCES (PHILLIPS) FRAZIER.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI, LEIGH ANN STEDKEL, CARROLLTON AND LESLEE FRAZIER AT HOME;

REVS PAUL SNOW AND CLYDE MYERS AND EDWIN MINER OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN

MEMBER.
Mary A. Fredenburg, 81 years, 5 months, 16
days, died at her home in Otterville Dec 26, 1905. Funeral
services were from Otterville M E Church, Rev. S. Albrecht
officiating. The large concourse of friends and kindly neighbors
bore testimony of the esteem in which she was held in this
community. The maiden name of the deceased was Lofton, oldest
child of Samuel and Catherine Lofton. She was born near what is
now Salem in, then Greene county, but now Jersey, July 10, 1824.
On Aug 20, 1844, she married E. F. Fredenburg, who 25 years ago
preceded her to that realm from which no one returns. To this
union were born ten children, six of whom survive her. four
daughters and two sons. They were all with her during her last
week's illness and all that loving hearts and willing hands
could do was done. For about a quarter of a century she was a
zealous and devoted member of the M E church in Otterville. For
several mont past her waning strength gave notice to all that
the shadowy reaper death was at hand. Many weary nights during
life has she spent by the bedside of the sick and the dying but
she is now in that land whose inhabitants wander not and are
never weary. The kindly acts of her neighbors can never be
forgotten and though the burial day was the most inclement of
the winter yet a large concourse followed the remains to the
burying ground through the storm. The Lord has called her to a
land that is stormless and shadowless. One by one the landmarks
of early times ae disappering. She has crossed the shadowy river
and joined the great congregation. (by R. R. N.) Mrs. Mary
Fredenberg died at the home in Otterville, Dec 26. Mrs.
Fredenberg had lived in this immediate neighborhood all her life
and will be sadly mised, as she possessed a jovial disposition
and was a friend to everyone.
Margaret Alberta Fredenburg, 81,
Jerseyville, was held at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in
Jerseyville. Burial was in Valhalla Memorial Park. Rev. Vale
Walkington officiated. Her death occurred on June 26. She was
born Aug 18, 1891 in Hardin the daughter of Logan F. and Olive
E. (Bizillion) Wilkinson. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs
Ernest (Rita) Whetzel of Alton and Mrs. Robert (Opal) Kronable
of Jerseyville; one son, Bernell Fredenburg, Carrollton; 10
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Roland
L. Wilkinson, Godfrey, and William F. Wilkinson, Springfield,
Ohio. Her husband, Eph Fredenburg, parents, one son, one
daughter and one sister preceded her in death.
Mary E. Freeman, 78, OF GRAFTON DIED MAY 2,
1988, AT HER RESIDENCE. SHE WAS BORN JULY 20, 1909 IN JERSEY CO
TO THE LATE JOHN (MOHR) & LAURA CUNNINGHAM. SHE MARRIED LESTER
FREEMAN ON AUG 17, 1927, IN KANE. HE DIED MARCH 16, 1983.
