ON ROUTE 267, TWO MILES SOUTH OF CARROLLTON. HE WAS A JUNIOR AT
JERSEY COMM. HIGH SCHOOL. BORN IN BELLEVILLE, SON OF HENRY
McADAMS, SR. OF GRAFTON AND BARBARA (RAMAGE) McADAMS OF
CASEYVILLE, HE WAS EMPLOYED AS A SUMMER LABORER WITH THE CITY OF
GRAFTON. IN ADDITION TO HIS PARENTS, HE IS SURVIVED BY ONE
BROTHER, JAMES OF GRAFTON; ONE SISTER, MARGIE McADAMS OF
CASEYVILLE; PATERNAL GRANDMOTHER, RUTH DEAN OF BRIGHTON; AND
MATERNAL GRANDMOTHER, BEE RAMAGE OF CASEYVILLE. VISITATION WILL

TUESDAY AFTERNOON AT THE JERSEY COMM. HOSPITAL WHERE HE HAD BEEN
MOVED FOR TREATMENT THE PRECEDING DAY. THE DECEDENT WAS A
RETIRED FARMER. FRIENDS MAY CALL AT JACOBY BROS FUNERAL HOME
WHERE FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT ONE-THIRTY THIS
(THURSDAY) AFTERNOON. BURIAL WILL BE IN MEADOW BRANCH CEMETERY.
MR. McADAMS, SON OF THE LATE JOSEPH AND MARY SILKWOOD McADAMS,
WAS BORN IN GREENE COUNTY ON 6 DEC 1869. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS
WIFE, MINNIE HASTINGS McADAMS; ONE SON, CLAY McADAMS OF
OTTERVILLE; FOUR DAUGHTERS, MRS. ALMEDA ENGEL OF GREENFIELD,
MRS. VELMA SCONCE OF GRAFTON, MRS. RAYMOND GROPPEL OF GODFREY;
AND MRS. MAUDIE DORRIS OF ALTON; FIFTEEN GRANDCHILDREN, AND
ELEVEN GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. ONE DAUGHER, MRS. BEULAH WIENKE

MONDAY AT BOYD MEMORIAL HOSPITAL. SHE WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL
AT TEN O'CLOCK THAT MORNING FROM THE HOME OF HER DAUGHTER, MRS.
RUSSELL WILES, WHERE SHE HAD BEEN RESIDING FOR THREE YEARS. SHE
HAD BEEN IN ILL HEALTH FOR SEVERAL YEARS. FUNERAL SERVICES WERE
HELD AT THE MEHL FUNERAL HOME THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND WERE
CONDUCTED BY THE REV. GLENN MANIS. INTERMENT WAS IN THE CITY
CEMETERY. SHE IS SURVIVED BY THREE SONS, HOWARD OF CARROLLTON;
HARVEY OF JERSEYVILLE AND HIRAMIE OF WILLIAMSVILLE, NY; FOUR
DAUGHTERS, MRS. RUSSELL WILES AND MRS. EVERETT PAINTER OF
CARROLLTON; MRS. HERMAN HOWARD OF WHITE HALL AND MRS. SAM
POLOTTO OF SPRINGFIELD; 17 GRANDCHILDREN AND 12 GREAT

ELDRED, A SON OF THE LATE ROBERT A. McADAMS AND MYRTLE SCHROEDER
McADAMS WHO SURVIVES. HE MARRIED JOELLA LOCKHART ON 29 JUN 1951
IN POCAHANTAS, ARK. IN ADDITION TO HIS WIFE AND MOTHER, HE IS

YEARS. HE WAS BORN IN MIDDLETOWN, BUTLER COUNTY, OHIO, SON OF
THOMAS AND ELIZABETH McADAMS. THOMAS WAS A NATIVE OF SCOTLAND
AND WHEN 16 IMMIGRATED TO THE U.S. AT PHILADELPHIA. THOMAS
McADAMS WAS MARRIED IN 1798 TO ELIZABETH, DAUGHTER OF JAMES AND
REBECCA NOBLE, WHO WERE NATIVES OF PENN; 8 CHILDREN WERE BORN.
MR. McADAMS WAS IN THE WAR OF 1812 AND WAS TAKEN PRISONER AT
DETROIT. HE FOLLOWED FARMING THROUGH LIFE AND DIED IN 1833. HIS
WIFE DIED IN THE SPRING OF 1836. WILLIAM McADAMS WAS EDUCATED AT
THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS OF HIS NATIVE COUNTY AND WAS MARRIED IN NOV
1831 TO ELIZA, OLDEST CHILD OF JOSEPH AND NANCY FARIES, WHOSE
ANCESTRAL DESCENT WAS SCOTCH AND IRISH, AND WHO WERE AMONG THE
EARLY SETTLERS OF OHIO. THE RESULT OF THIS UNION WAS NINE
CHILDREN, SIX OF WHOM ARE LIVING: WILLIAM OF ALTON, MARY JANE,
WIFE OF JOHN AUTEN, DR. CHARLES OF WITICHA, LEWIS Y. OF WHITE
HALL, ELEANORA AND ANNA RESIDING AT HOME. HE BEGAN LIFE AS A
CARPENTER BUT CHANGED TO THE MERCANTILE BUSINESS, WHICH HE
FOLLOWED FOR 20 YEARS. HE CAME TO ILLINOIS IN 1864 AND RESIDED
HERE UNTIL THE SPRING OF 1872 WHEN HE MOVED TO THE VILLAGE OF
OTTERVILLE. THE FUNERAL WAS FROM THE BAPTIST CHURCH AT
